The electric heating of a conducting liquid or paste in a continuous flow process is performed by passing the liquid along a duct formed from three longitudinal electrodes supplied by a three-phase voltage so that a current flows between the electrodes, heating the conductive liquid. The electrodes are formed from an angle section which has the two arms at an angle of 240 degrees on the side exposed to the liquid. Three electrodes are used, positioned to form a 'Y' shaped passage for the fluid. Electrical insulators close off the ends of each arm of the 'Y'. An electrically and thermally insulating material is packed around the channel and the assembly is surrounded by a circular section metal enclosure (31).
|
