<p>Pharmaceutical compsns. for treatment of alcoholic intoxication contain pyridoxine 5-oxo-2-pyrrolidine carboxylate of formula (I). Prepn. of (I) comprises reacting equimolar amts. of pyroglutamic acid and pyridoxine at elevated temp. in ethanol, isolating the prod. from the reaction mixt. by filtration and cooling the filtrate (sic). (I) is more effective than pyridoxine in normalising behaviour (psychomotor excitation and aggression), blood chemical and enzyme levels and psychometric parameters in acutely intoxicated subjects, esp. when administered parenterally.</p> |
