In a water purificn. system by an ozone treatment, a side stream is purified by absorption of ozone in a contact reactor from an ozoniferous oxygen stream which absorbs the released nitrogen and is returned to an ozoniser for recycling to the contact reactor. Before the oxygen stream enters the ozoniser, a controllable amt. of the absorbed nitrogen is extracted by adsorption. A pipe passes 1000 cu.m/h raw water through a reaction stage which also receives a side stream of 20 cu.m/h from a pump via an ozone enrichment washer. A pipe circulates ozoniferous oxygen. The gas leaving contains 86 vol.% oxygen, 12.4 vol.% nitrogen and 1.6 vol.% water vapour. After passing through a dryer with silica gel filled absorbers, a 10% side stream is passed through an adsorption plant, i.e. zeolitic molecular sieves, for 100% nitrogen adsorption. Pure oxygen is added from a pipe downstream of the bypass line to make up the oxygen loss. This system reduces the costs for investment and for operation to a min. |
