MULTILAYERED TEST DEVICE FOR DETERMINING THE PRESENCE OF A LIQUID SAMPLE COMPONENT, AND METHOD OF USE A test device is disclosed for determining the presence of a liquid sample constituent. The device comprises a base support member having attached to it an indicator member which produces a detectable response, such as a color change, in the presence of the sample constituent. The indicator member comprises an upper reagent layer, a lower absorbent layer and a substantially sample-impervious barrier layer between the upper and lower layers. The indicator member is attached to the base member along the lower side of the absorbent layer.
