The non-filmogenic polymer is preferably one which is predominantly hydrocarbon, but a long list of suitable polymers, including styrene polymers, vinyl chloride polymers, polysulphones, polyolefins, acrylic polymers, polyesters, polyvinylacetate, polyallylacetate and polyvinyl propionate, is given. In the examples, the binder used is a carboxylated butadiene/styrene copolymer latex, but other synthetic polymers, and natural binders such as starch, proteins and casein, may also be used. Suitable pigments are kaolin (preferred), alumina, satin white and calcium carbonate.</p> |
