PURPOSE:To incorporate copper sulfide into polyamide fibers, etc. via cyano groups and impart the electric conductivity thereto, by treating the polyamide fibers containing the cyano groups in a bath containing bivalent copper (cupric) ions, a reducing agent and a compound capable of releasing sulfur atoms, etc. CONSTITUTION:Polyamide, polyester or rayon fibers, having cyano groups are (A) treated in a bath containing bivalent copper (cupric) ions, a reducing agent capable of reducing the copper (cupric) ions into monovalent (cuprous) ions and a compound capable of releasing sulfur atoms and/or sulfur ions or (B) heat-treated in a bath containing the monovalent copper (cuprous) ions to adsorb the ions and then heat-treated in the liquid phase or vapor phase containing the compound capable of releasing the sulfur atoms and/or sulfur ions. The copper ions are dispersed and adsorbed in fibers as copper suofide by either one of the methods to give the aimed electrically conductive fibers. |
