PURPOSE:To record many pieces of music and to speed music-selecting operation, by enabling a magnetic tape to move in the widthwise direction of the tape by setting blocks in the lengthwise direction of the tape and by providing many channels in the widthwise direction. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape T is sectioned into nine blocks, for example, in its lengthwise direction and detection holes for position detection are each made between blocks. Further, 61 lines of parallel tracks, for example, are set in the widthwise direction. For music selection, a three-digit number is specified; the high- order one digit indicates the block number of the tape T, and the low-order two digits a channel number, so that the tape T is fed rapidly or rewound rapidly until the corresponding block. The tape T, once reaching the detection hole of the corresponding hole, stops suddenly and a channel selector is put in operation. Namely, a pulse motor M rotates to rotate an elevator screw 8, thereby moving a magnetic head 14. The rotation of the screw 8 is detected by a photointerrupter 12 and at the corresponding channel number, the motor M stops. |
