Plasmatron for processing of metals in air and water, consisting of a housing 20 with cathode holder enclosed therein and arrangement for manual ignition. A conical nozzle 3 is arranged at the front end of the housing 20 and is covered from above by a closure cap 13 to form a conical slit between the nozzle and the cap. A cylindrical surface is configured at the broad end of the outer conical surface of the conical nozzle 3 and a vortex generator 5 is arranged on the cylindrical surface. The vortex generator 5 has tangential channels 3, which are connected at the upper end to the cylindrical slit which is formed by the inner horizontal and vertical surfaces of the closure cap 13, the front surface of the housing 20, and the upper outer surface of the vortex generator 5. At the other end, the tangential channels 9 are connected to the conical slit 10 formed by the conical surface of the closure cap 13 and the outer surface of the conical nozzle 3. The plasmatron formed in this fashion can be used for both cutting and drilling, since its design prevents occurrence of a reactive heat flux. <IMAGE> |
