The compression piston for a hermetically sealed miniature refrigerator has a disc (1) with spherical edges forming an integral part of its piston rod (2). It can be made of steel or plastics or both. Mounted on the rod are two further discs (3) with spherical edges. They can slide along the rod and can be clamped under a disc (4) with a tensioning spring (5), retained by a locking ring (6) around the rod. The two further discs can be so shaped, as to permit play equalisation.
