PURPOSE:To obtain a titled lens which is sufficient in oxygen permeation capacity, is stable in the standard shape of the lens during wearing and is superior in eyesight correcting capacity by using a copolymer of a monomer consisting essentially of polyethylene glycol and alkyl ester of methacrylic acid. CONSTITUTION:A contact lens is produced from the polymer consisting of 60- 95pts.wt. one or more kinds of hydrophilic monomers selected from (A) the formula [n is polyethylene glycol monomethacrylate of 2-5 integers (e.g.: diethylene glycol monomethacrylate or the like)], (B) 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate, 2-hydroxypropyl (meth)acrylate, (meth)acrylic amide, and N-vinylpyrrolidone which are so mixed as to attain A:B=100:10-50:50 (by weight) and 40-5pts.wt. alkyl ester of methacrylic acid. The middle class water-containing contact lens of about 45- 60wt% of water content which has the oxygen permeation capacity required for the cornea, is stable in the standard shape of the lens during wearing, and is superior in eyesight correcting power is obtained. |
