<p>The medium or high tension circuit breaker includes a metal base supporting three insulating columns. The column is fixed, and may be held away from the base by appropriate equipment. The third column may turn about its axis to transmit a driving force to the moving parts. By its rotation, the column loads energy-storing springs to ensure rapid switching when the contact is opened or closed. The first insulating column supports a fixed contact and a terminal which may be connected to the end of the mobile contact. The middle column has a forked joint supporting the pivoting arm and a crank mechanism which, with the metal rod transmits movement from the rotatable column to the pivoting arm. The second contact is mounted on the third column and is connected to the pivoting switch arm.</p> |
