Machine for corrugating cardboard - uses vacuum source to hold cardboard to corrugating roller and air pressure for release

A sheet of plain cardboard (2) is passed between two rollers (3,4) with longitudinal corrugations. The adhesive is applied by a smaller roller (6) and the corrugated sheet is pressed against a second plain sheet (1) by a third roller (5). The roller (4) is heated by steam and has longitudinal holes (12) in its walls. These holes communicate through small radial holes (14) with slots (13) in the roller surface. As the roller (4) rotates each longitudinal hole is connected alternately with a vacuum source and with a compressed air supply. The vacuum holes the cardboard to the roller and the compressed air releases it.
