The silo vehicle for transporting bulk granular material, uses a pneumatic charging system and carries a filter unit (8) on top, which is used for the charging operation. The filter has a connection (4) with a valve (9) controlling air entry, and a second connection with a valve (10) controlling an outlet pipe (5) for filtered air. A further outlet (6) with another valve (11) controls entry from a compressed air delivery unit (17). This unit can be used to deliver pressure air to the filter in the opposite direction to that used to discharge the vehicle container (14) into a fixed receiver by a pipe (19) with a discharge valve (18). There is a further connecting line and valve (13) between the filter and the vehicle container. A circular container can incorporate a filter element at one side, with the filter material clamped by a perforated hollow member.
