<p>The label (1) or tag is intended for a pack, e.g. containing a medical or dental instrument which is to be sterilised in its packing by ionising irradiation, e.g. by gamma rays. It carries an indication, e.g. the lettering 'sterile'" (5) which discolours under irradiation on a background field (6) which has the same colour as the lettering before irradiation. The arrangement is such that the lettering only becomes visible after irradiation. The arrangement may be reversed so that, e.g. the label carries the visible words 'not sterile', of which the word 'not' becomes invisible through irradiation.</p> |
