Suction is applied to plate-shaped objects, esp. for printed circuits pre-treated with a liq. medium and interspersed with a number of bores using a suction head connectable to a blower unit. This suction force removes liq. residual deposits, esp. from the relatively small plate bores. The installation includes a suction slot cover device (22) consisting of a number of cover elements (34) which can be separately moved from a position in which they sectionally cover the suction slot (14) along its length into an open position where the suction slot is free and accessible. Only those cover elements positioned within the slot area covered during the passage of an object (24) over the suction slot (14) are capable of moving automatically into the open position. These elements automatically return into the covering position after the object has passed.
