PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate for various organic compounds such as synthetic resins, agricultural chemicals or medicines by reacting 1-propen-3-al in the presence of a dimerization catalyst. CONSTITUTION:1-Propen-3-al is used as a raw material and reacted in the presence of a dimerization catalyst [e.g. (eta--cyclooctatriene)-(eta-cyclooctadiene) ruthenium], as necessary, in a solvent (e.g. water or benzene) at 0-200 deg.C under 1-100 bar pressure for 0.1-200hr to afford 2-hexene-1,6-dial, which can be converted into 1,6-hexanediol, adipic acid and 1.6-hexanediamine which are raw materials for polyesters or polyamides by hydrogenation, oxidation and reductive amination. The catalyst is used in an amount of 0.0000001 to 1 molar ratio based on the raw material. |
