<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the exfoliation of a seal due to long-term aging by using a silane coupling agent as a seal coupler and laying a rubbed SiO2 film on the agent except a part coated with a seal resin to form a film orienting liq. crystal molecules. CONSTITUTION:A silane coupling agent 3 is applied to each glass substrate 1 having a vapor-deposited transparent electrode 2, and after drying the agent 3 and mounting a metallic mask on it except a part for adhering a seal, an SiO2 film 4 is vapor-deposited by an electron beam method or other method. The film 4 is rubbed, the seal is printed, and a liq. crystal display device is formed by a known method including sticking. By covering each substrate with the SiO2 film with the coupling agent as an undercoat in-between, twist discrimination is prevented, and the SiO2 film itself can be used as an orienting film by rubbing. Since the seal resin is directly adhered to the coupling agent on the glass substrate, the exfoliation of the seal due to long-term aging can be prevented.</p> |
