5-Nitro furan and thiophene 2-aldimine(s) - for prevention and treatment of fire blight

Compsns. containing a nitroaldeimine of formula (I) are new. In (I) X is 0 or S; R is alkyl, opt. substd. by cycloalkyl, aryl, or heterocyclyl; cycloalkyl opt. substd. by alkyl; aryl, or dialkylamino. Compounds of formula (I) are prepared by the reaction of 5-nitro(furan or thiophene)2-carboxaldehyde with an amine RNH2, in the presence of a strong basic ion exchange resin. (I) may be formulated in solid or liquid form, using conventional adjuvants.
