PURPOSE:To enable to keep printing constant, by a method wherein an ink tank, feeding ink to an ink jet recorder, is caused to move vertically corresponding to changes in an ink temperature, and with this a meniscus in an orifice of a recording head is kept constant. CONSTITUTION:In an on-demand type ink jet recorder, a recording ink temperature is detected, the height of an ink feed tank is adjusted according to the temperature to control a liquid pressure of ink fed to a recording head, and the meniscus in the orifice of the recording head is kept constant. In concrete terms, a temperature detector 10, 307 is mounted in a recording head 4, 310 or an ink tank 1, 302 to detect a temperature, and the height of the ink tank 1, 302 is regulated according to the temperature by means of a bimetal 9 and a jack 305. |
