PURPOSE:To obtain the subject tool capable of placing and pressing an explant without damaging the explant and the surface of medium by using a forming rod having a tip end form fitting the form of an explant and detachably fixing the forming rod on the lower surface of a lid member. CONSTITUTION:A forming rod 3 having a tip end form fitting the form of an explant is fitted to a ring-shaped protrusion 4 of a lid member 2 with an engaging part 7 at a length shorter than the depth of a culture vessel 1 and held in a suspended state. After solidifying a medium-forming solution 8, the lid member is removed to leave a recess on the surface of the solid medium by the tip end of the forming rod. An explant is put into the recess.
