PURPOSE:To improve sealing performance by as utilizing only the merits of the gasket and the sealant in such a way applying a sealant on the end surface along the periphery of a gasket, when the driving system of an engine and the transmission of a car are sealed together. CONSTITUTION:Sealant 2 is applied on the end surface along the periphery of a paper gasket 1, and tightened. Humidity-hardening type silicone is used as the sealant. At the same time in tightening, the sealant 2 is extruded around the gasket, also stuck to the aluminium on the flange 3 surface, and filled into narrow gap formed by the flange 3, its counterpart 5, and screw 4, which hold the gasket 1 therebetween. The thickness of the sealant 2 can be secured by the paper gasket, and leak due to permeation through the paper gasket can be prevented by the sealant 2. The deformation can be absorbed largely in sealing surface while the paper gasket can well affect fabrication easiness and initial sealing performance, and the sealant 2 after hardening improves long durability of sealing performance, thus securing good synergistic effect. |
