REAR WHEEL STEERING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To regulate the rear wheel steering angle within a prescribed range even if a rear wheel steering device is in anomaly, by installing a steering angle regulating stopper on the gear of a hypoid gear, arranging a pin engaged with a stopper, and regulating the steering angle by projecting the pin to the gear of the hypoid gear. CONSTITUTION:A steering angle regulating mechanism consists of a steering angle regulating stopper 18, steering angle regulating pin 19, steering angle regulating motor 20, and a rear wheel steering sensor. Further, the gear 5 of a hypoid gear is coaxially fixed on a pinion 4, and the steering angle regulating stopper 18 is installed along both the edge parts, and a steering angle regulating pin 19 is installed, permitting the projection engagement for the steering angle regulating stopper 18. The max. steering angle is calculated by the rear wheel steering angle sensor, and outputted as electric signal, and the steering angle regulating motor 20 is driven. Then, the steering angle regulating pin 19 shifts to project into the cut part 5a of the gear 5 of the hypoid gear, and the turning operation, i.e., steering angle is regulated.
