SALTS OF (ALPHA)-ISOCYANOCARBOXYLIC ACIDS AND THEIR USE AS PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS

New salts of ?-isocyanocarboxylic acid of the formula wherein R is alkyl or phenyl, R1 is hydrogen, alkyl or phenylalkyl or R and R1 together represent an alkylene chain with at least 2 carbon atoms, and R2 is an alkali metal ion are provided. Such compounds are particularly efficacious in plant growth regulant activity and are more effective than conventional materials such as tri-n-butyl-tri-thiophosphoric acid ester and 2-chloroethanesulphinic acid.
