PURPOSE:To automatically form a ring to be rolled into a ring of a desired size, by controlling the roll gap of axial rolls, by controlling the position of a mandrel while computing the variation of diameter of the rolled ring. CONSTITUTION:Axial rolls 41, 42 are opened and a work 5 is inserted. While the variation of height of the work 5 owing to the rolling work is set and the roll gap of axial rolls 41, 42 is controlled, a mandrel 3 is pressed toward a main roll 2 in order to apply a rolling work to the work 5. Hereupon, the variation of inner diameter of the work 5 is computed from the variation of height and outer diameter of the work 5, and the position of mandrel 3 is controlled. According to the present method, the roll mill can be automatically controlled, and a ring to be rolled of a square section can be automatically formed into a ring of desired size. |
