THICKNESS SLIP OSCILLATOR

PURPOSE:To increase the spurious suppression effect, by cutting off along the widthwise direction at least one of the four ridgelines at the both-end part in the lengthwise direction of a thickness slip oscillator that has such a form as to suppress the length spurious oscillation. CONSTITUTION:At least one of the four ridgelines in the widthwise direction of a piezoelectric ceramic substrate 1 which forms an energy enclosing type thickness slip oscillator of a rectangular parallelpiped is cut off along the widthwise direction. Main electrodes 2 and 2' are provided at the center part on the opposite surface, and at the same time lead wire lead-out electrodes 3 and 3' are provided at the opposite ends on the surface opposite to each other. The number and quantity of the ridgelines to be cut off is decided through an observation of a network analyzer or a spectrum analyzer and so that the spurious oscillation becomes minimum. As a result, a thickness slip oscillator which can be easily held can be obtained with a high Q and a reduced spurious oscillation.
