PURPOSE:To form a negative image with high sensitivity, density and contrast by adding a speciied thioether compound so as to deposit a metal on physically developing nuclei. CONSTITUTION:A photographic sensitive material is manufacutred by coating a support with a layer (A) contg. sensitive silver halide particles, a layer (B) contg. physically developing nuclei, a layer (C) contg. at least 1 kind of compound represented by general formula I [where R is H, OH, alkyl, aryl or (X)m-R<2> (X is -O-, -S-, -CONH-, -OCONH- or the like, R<2> is 1-20C alkyl and m is 0 or 1), R<1> is alkyl or aryl and R and R<1> may bond to each other to form a cyclic compound] and a layer (D) contg. metallic particles which deposit the metal on the nuclei of the layer (B) after forming complex salt imagewise by reaction with the compound of the layer (C) when subjected to image-wise exposure. |
