Self:contained evaporator for cryogenic liq. - which is fed through heat exchanger located in water tank heated by submerged boiler

The evaporator may be stationary or mobile, and consists of a thermally-insulated tank closed by a roof. The tank is filled with water, and contains a heat exchanger formed by serpentine coils. Alongside the heat exchanger, and immersed in the water, is a boiler, which is heated by a fuel or gas burner. The evaporator also contains pressure control- and safety- devices. The boiler pref. occupies the entire length of one side of the tank, whereas the exchanger fills the other side; and the external surface of the boiler is pref. provided with fins promoting heat transfer to the water. Used e.g. for the conversion of liq. N2, O2, or H2 into gas, the present invention provides a simplified evaporator in comparison with prior art.
