PURPOSE:To realize both the high reliability and the high preservation performance of a battery containing a lithium-iodine complex as an active material, by coating the sealing part of the battery with a water repellent agent having a surface tension below a given value. CONSTITUTION:A cathode active material 5 made of lithium is packed in a cathode can 3. An anode active material 6 made of a iodine complex principally consisting of iodine and phenothiazine is packed into an anode can 4. A gasket 2 is interposed between the can 3 and the can 4, and the end of the can 4 is bent inwardly to seal the battery, thereby a battery is constituted. Here, a solid electrolyte layer 7 made lithium iodide is provided between the active materials 5 and 6. A water repellent agent 1 such as a fluoroplastic compound is applied to the sealing part of the battery to form a coating film. The surface tension of the agent 1 should be below 20 [dynes/cm]. |
