The hydrotherapy unit is particularly for handicapped or obese patients who have limited mobility. The bath (1) is built into the ground and has handrails (4,5) for ease of access. The flow of water into the bath is controlled by electric or pneumatic valves which are preprogrammed to work in conjunction with an outlet valve. Different coloured lights indicate what state the unit is in, i.e. filling, in use or emptying, and are activated by signals derived from the valves. Cosmetic or therapeutic additives may flow into the bath through an auxiliary line.
