PURPOSE:To obtain a mirror with a good optical properties by adopting as a base of a mirror obtained by removing a periphery from a transparent synthetic resin molding formed by injection molding. CONSTITUTION:A mirror base 1 is obtained by providing a transparent synthetic resin molding 1' formed slightly larger in a contour size of the periphery than a prescribed size with injection molding and by cutting out to remove a peripheral part 1a including a large amt. 4 strain by the molding. A mirror is obtained by preparing on the one surface of the base 1 a metal evaporated film such as Al as a reflecting surface and a protective coated film comprising high polymer paints to protect this metallic film. The metallic evaporated film and a protective coated film are provided before the above-mentioned part 1a is cut out and removed and after that the part 1a is cut out and removed.
