A spray of water is injected into the throat of an automotive carburettor to assist in complete fuel combustion for improved efficiency and reduced exhaust pollution. The water jet is added to a conventional carburettor with a float chamber supplying a main jet placed at the throat of the carburettor venturi. The water is placed in the air flow above the main jet, and sensors are provided for water temperature and throttle position.S A controller operates a solenoid valve in the water supply line to allow a flow of high pressure water in proportion to the throttle opening. The controller requires that the engine has reached its operating temperature before water is added to the air/fuel mixture.
|
