On a frame is a conveyor belt on which a pane rests below a travelling bridge, which can be driven in the longitudinal direction of the conveyor by a motor and spindle. On the bridge is another motor and spindle employed to move a trolley carrying a glass scoring wheel. The two motors are driven by a program stored in a memory, esp. so the scoring wheel can follow a complex path. The scoring wheel can be removed from the trolley and be replaced by a pointer, which can be moved by hand to follow a template while two graduated scales scanned by two photoelectric cells are employed to provide coded data. The data are stored in the memory and then used to move the scoring tool along a prescribed path. Machine is reliable, rapid, and economic and does not require highly skilled workers.
