<p>The compressor cylinder (3) has two pipes (17,17a) connecting each end of it to the high pressure vessel (1). The pipe inlets from the vessel are controlled by ports (30,31) in a disc (19). One of the ports is also closed by a manually controlled rod (18). When this is lifted compressed air is admitted into the cylinder and moves the piston (10). This is connected to the motor piston and thus sets it in motion. A cam (28) on the chain wheel (27) driven by the motor rocks the disc (19). The air is thus admitted alternately to opposite sides of the piston to maintain the motion until ignition occurs.</p> |
