PURPOSE:To obtain a block copolyether glycol improved in an applicable range of developing functions, comprising a specified structure of a poly(ethylene glycol) block with a poly(2-methyl trimethylene glycol) block. CONSTITUTION:An ABA block copolyether glycol represented by the formula (wherein a and b are integers), comprising poly(ethylene glycol) blocks (block A) and a poly)2-methyl-trimethylene glycol) block (block B). This copolyether glycol has a total number-average MW in the range of, preferably, 300-35,000. When the number-average MW is outside the above range, the polymer can not fully develop its functions as a surfactant or in the application of its soft segment. This block copolyether is useful as a material for an elastomer such as polyether polyurethane and is also useful as a separative membrane or a medical material having compatibility with blood. |
