PURPOSE:To ensure favorable adhesion between a recording layer and a base, obtain a favorable reproduction signal and enable reproduction of an address signal or the like, by using a specified compound as a solvent of a coating liquid for forming the recording layer. CONSTITUTION:An optical recording medium comprises a recording layer comprising a coloring matter and provided on a polycarbonate resin base, and the recording layer is provided by using a compound of formula [I] as a solvent of a coating liquid for forming the recording layer. In formula [I], R1 is a lower alkyl, particularly, a 1-5C alkyl. The group R1 may be either a straight chain group or a branched group, and may have a substituent group, but is preferably an unsubstituted group. The group R2 is a lower alkylene, particularly, a 2-5C alkylene. The group R2 may be either a straight chain group or a branched group, and may have a substituent group, but is preferably an unsubstituted group. The coloring matter is preferably a polymethine coloring matter. |
