Actuator positioning colour and correcting tape on typewriters - uses solenoid with with latching mechanism to spool in working position

The actuating mechanism for either the type band or correction band of a typewriter is designed for solenoid actuation and includes a mechanical latching facility. The correction band is e.g. spool mounted and supported on a pivoted arm. A solenoid actuator carries a pivoted armature that, when operated, contacts the projecting arm of the spool mounting. The spool mounting pivots upwards and as it does so allows a latch bar to ride against a guide until a stepped action is located. The latch bar is held in position by a spring and holds the spool in the working position after the solenoid is de-energised.
