PURPOSE:To enable encoding with a high compressing rate, by converting the quantized data for the density of picture into a gray code of 2 bits and transmitting the data of low-order digit picked up in conjunction with the data of the high-order digit to be encoded. CONSTITUTION:The code train to be trasnmitted consists of a high-order digit data 13 in a compression-encoding state and successively continuous data 14 of data 10, 11, 12 picked up from the low-order digita following it. That is, in the case of transmission, in succession to the data 13 to be compression-encoded, the data 14 of picked-up low-order digit is transmitted. Further, when n-dimension compression for the specified number of bits per one scanning line from the code train of c) is made, decoding is made as the n-dimension encoded code. As a result, the most significant bit(MSB) shown in a) is obtained. The following code train is made to the low-order digit value corresponding to the changed MSB and the other is made to ''0'' to obtain the least significant bit(LSB). Further, the quantized level as shown in c) can be obtained through the reverse conversion of MSB and LSB according to the table. |
