PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of the device and make it possible to perform an automatic transmission from the first speed to the third speed by providing a three- way check valve, and inserting an orifice between the three-way check valve and a speed selecting valve. CONSTITUTION:The automatic transmission is provided with a torque converter 1, an overdrive mechanism 2 for performing the fourth speed, and a planetary gear transmission mechanism 3 of three steps for forward motion and one step for backward motion. The above torque converter 1 comprises a pump 5, a turbine 6 and a stator 7. The pump 5 is connected to an engine crank shaft 8 and a turbine 6 is connected to a turbine shaft 9. Further, a direct coupled clutch 50 which mechanically connects the engine crank shaft 8 to the turbine shaft is provided in the torque converter 1. Furthermore, when the speed selecting valve is shifted to the L- position a three-way check valve is provided so that the automatic transmission is performed, and further an orifice is inserted between the three-way check valve and the speed selecting valve. |
