A process for producing L-Lysine by culturing in a suitable medium an Escherichia bacterium transformed by the introduction into its cells of a DNA coding for an Escherichia-derived dihydrodipicolinate synthase having such a variation as to be released from the feedback inhibition caused by L-lysine and a DNA coding for an Escherichia-derived aspartokinase III having such a variation as to be released from the feedback inhibition caused by L-lysine, preferably the above Escherichia bacterium which further has been enriched with a dihydrodipicolinate reductase gene and a coryneform-derived diaminopimelate dehydrogenase gene (or a succinyldiaminopimelate transaminase gene and a succinyldiaminopimelate deacylase gene), accumulating the produced L-lysine in the medium, and harvesting the accumulated L-lysine from the medium.
