Carburettor for IC engine - has fuel nozzle upstream of adjusting orifice in slow running by=pass

Air is drawn through a filter (3) and a carburettor (5,6) into a suction manifold (4) of the engine (1). The carburettor has a fuel jet (5) in a venturi and a throttle (6) downstream of it. A bypass (7) round the carburettor has a fuel nozzle (8) and an adjustable throttling orifice (10). It provides a slow running mixture, when the throttle in the carburettor is closed. The fuel nozzle in the bypass is upstream of the throttling orifice. This ensures that the suction pressure, which draws fuel through the nozzle, is independent of the engine speed so that the mixture strength does not vary with speed. PS.
