The machine has a spring coiling station (3) producing the double cone-shaped springs (10) from steel wire (2). The coiling station has holding arms (4) which transport the coiled wire springs to the subsequent operations. The next station (5) provides the springs with an upper loop, while the next (6) provides a lower loop on the spring. The fourth station (7) is a tempering station, where the springs undergo a heat treatment. The fifth station (8) is a transfer station, where the springs (10) are handed to a conveying assembly (9) and transported (11). The springs, lined up in a row are transferred from the conveyor (9) to a grouping mechanism by a grip mechanism (12) which at the same time turns over the row into a vertical position. Further rows are added and tied together by wire (15) at the top and bottom of each spring.
