Punctiform signal transmitter for rail vehicles - has interrogators on each vehicle for reading signals from track located responders

The signal transmitter is for operation both from the track to the respective vehicle and from the latter to the transceivers, mounted along the track. The transmission system uses interrogators, each transmitting a periodically tunable, polarised microwave signal reflected by the responders, moving relative to the interrogators. The reflection of the signals is frequency selective, but without change of the polarisation plane. Each railway vehicle (F) carries at least one interrogator (ABF) for reading the signals from the responders mounted along the railway track (S). Along the latter is provided at least one interrogator (ABS) for reading the signals transmitted/reflected by the responders (AF) from the vehicles. The polarisation planes of the interrogation signals of the vehicle and track interrogators are offset through about 90 deg.
