PURPOSE:To prevent an intermediate transfer material from being charged and to enhance sharpness and resolution of an image, by rendering the toner image-bearing face of the intermediate transfer material electrically conductive in transferring a toner image onto the intermediate transfer material without transferring the toner image directly onto a copying paper. CONSTITUTION:A rotary drum 1 is provided with a charge-retaining material 1a, rotated in the arrow direction, charged with a charger 2, imagewise exposed (as shown by the broken arrow signal), developed with a developing unit 3, and a toner image is formed on the charge-retaining material 1a. An intermediate transfer belt 11 formed by mixing carbon black or a powder of a metal, such as Ag, as a conductive material with a silicone rubber or the like to render the toner image-bearing face of the belt 11 not higher than 10<10>OMEGA.cm in resistivity. The toner image transferred onto the belt 11 subjected to tension is again transferred onto a transfer paper P using a tension roller 15, a transfer roller 12, a transfer fixing roller 13, and a pressing roller 14. The toner image is fixed to the transfer paper P by heating with a heat source 13a inside the roller 13, thus permitting the belt 11 to be prevented from triboelectrification, stripping charging at the time of releasing the pressure, or the like charging, and an excellent copied image to be obtained. |
