One end of the motor rotor carries a magnet ring (23) on which a number of equally spaced alternating north-south pole pairs (41,42) are placed. These poles are made of permanent magnet material. Attached to the motor frame are two detector units (40). These are arranged diametrically opposite each other and axially in line with the magnet poles. The coils of the detector units are connected electrically in series. The output is rectified to give a speed feedback signal to the regulator. This feedback assists in setting the phase control to the correct position. The use of a separate speed sensing system eliminates the distortion and noise due to leakage fluxes inherent in the use of a stator winding derived feedback.
|
