Monitor for movement of automatic sliding door - has movable safety strip cutting light beam to reverse door direction

The monitor has a light source and photodetector to reverse the direction of the door's drive when a person cuts the light beam. A reflector mirror (4) is attached to the door and reflects the light from the source to the photodetector, which forms part of the same unit (8). A strip (5) is attached to the front of the door and moves when it touches an obstacle (eg a person). The strip then covers the mirror interrupting the light beam and causing the direction of the door to reverse - i.e. causing the door to open again. Alternatively, the strip may be linked via levers to the support that holds the reflector. The reflector is moved when the strip is moved and light ceases to reach the photodetector. The strip strip provides additional safety.
