The fabric is tensed at 5-10 kg/m for steaming before steeping in lye in the roll. Steaming is applied after bleaching and dyeing for 1-2 mins. under tension and for 2-10 mins. at no tension. The fabric is spread during kier-boiling and mercerisation, before steaming in the roll and steeping and during steeping in lye. The process increases the mercerising effect and also reduces the equipment size while raising productivity.
