Foam generator comprises a tubular chamber to which foam ingredients are supplied by pump. The chamber includes a series of adjacent mixing sections, formed by coiled honeycomb strips, which alternately define passageways which diverge from the chamber axis and increase in cross-section in the downstream direction with passageways which conversely converge and narrow. The variation in the size of the passageways alternately increases and decreases the pressure in the fluid stream passing therethrough so as to generate the foam. The generator enables foam to be delivered through pipes of up to 200 ft. in length at low velocity and without slugs of foam and air forming.
