PURPOSE:To reinforce and to facilitate reading the scale on the free end part of a tape measure by attaching a metallic terminal piece of L-shape to the underside of the extremity of the tape measure and providing protecting means at the extremity of the end part of the tape measure. CONSTITUTION:A metallic terminal piece is attached to the end part of a tape measure with its upper surface in contact with the underside of the tape measure. A protecting means is provided between the corner of the metallic terminal piece and the extremity of the tape measure. For example, an L-shaped metallic terminal piece is fixed to the end part of the tape measure by means of rivets 18 and 19 with the upper side of the attaching part 13 thereof in contact with the underside of the tape measure 11. A protecting projection 16 is provided between the corner 15 of the attaching part 13 and the extremity 17 of the tape measure 11 for reinforcement. Desirably, the tongue 14 of the terminal piece and the rear side of the protecting projection are aligned flush, the corner of the rear end 22 of the attaching part 13 is chamfered and a washer 21 is provided under the head of the rivet 19. |
