PURPOSE:To reduce the cyanide concn. in the liquid to be treated to <=1ppm by preheating the nickel-cyanogen-compound-contg. liquid contg. a specific amount of water soluble metal hydroxide then heating the same to specific temps. before it enters a continuous reactor. CONSTITUTION:The nickel-cyanogen-compound-contg. liquid contg. water soluble metal hydroxide at least 0.5mol per mol of nickel-cyanogen compounds is preheated to temps. above (the treating temp. to be mentioned later -20 deg.C). Thence, high-temp. steam is blown in the transport pipe before entering a continuous reactor, to heat the liquid to be treated to treating temps. of 175-200 deg.C, after which it is fed into a continuous treating vessel, where it is passed for >=10min residence time in the state that the above-mentioned treating temps. are maintained. The hydroxide of akali metals or alkaline earth metals such as LiOH, KOH, NaOH, BA(OH)2, Ca(OH)2 is used as the water soluble metal hydroxide.
