PURPOSE:To make possible the selection of the appropriate position of the accelerating pedal by indicating the comparative value of at least one functional factor of an internal combustion engine relative to the respective reference values corresponding to the speeds of the transmission. CONSTITUTION:The relative values of at least one functional factor of an internal combustion engine with respect to reference values are indicated. The reference values are determined corresponding to the respective speeds of the transmission. For example, AC pulses proportional to the revolving rate of an engine is applied to a terminal 1 and converted 1a into a voltage signal, which is compared 1c with a voltage signal provided by a constant setting device 1b. A voltage corresponding to the boundary of a low fuel consumption rate range and obtained through a characteristic converter 2 is compared 2c with a voltage proportional to the position of the accelerating pedal and received through a therminal 3. The output voltage of the constant setting device 1b is changed in accordance with the transmission speed detection signal received from a terminal 7 thereby a green signal lamp 5 is lighted for the low fuel consumption rate range while a red signal lamp is lighted for the condition outside the low fuel consumption rate range.
